2020. What a year. This church has faced quite a few challenges this year, with a global pandemic completely changing the way we worship, with the loss of several very dear church friends, and with Hurricane Sally blowing through and causing damage not only to our church building, but to most of the homes in this community. But hope is rising from the ashes:
Vaccines are beginning to be distributed, and we thank God for the scientists who have created them. Worshiping online means people all around the world can worship with us – including our winter friends, who can now worship with us year round.
We are slowly but surely repairing our church building, cutting down the damaged trees, and fixing the church sign. The hurricane gave us the opportunity to reach out into our community, offering much needed food, supplies, and love.
As we ring in 2021, let us remember that the difference between 2020 and 2021 is literally one second in time. We will not wake up on January 1 to a whole new world. However, we can wake up with a whole new outlook, and a fresh determination to follow whatever path God has laid out for us. 2021 will be a year of changes to be sure, and I am looking forward to celebrating those changes, rolling with whatever new punches come our way, and always serving God as a church family with energy, intelligence, imagination, and love.
In God’s service, Kim
